A skeptic’s guide to elevated exercise

One of the most wonderful things about Wims is the way it complements the world around you. While it’s consistent in its ability to deliver optimism and energy, that feeling can be applied to all kinds of different experiences. At the bar, Wims may help you tune into your social side. At craft night, it may manifest as creative inspiration. On a hike, it may help you pay extra attention to little leaves and flowers. It’s a joy to explore the many experiences Wims can elevate.

Although it’s not exactly what the product was intended for, one of our favorites is... exercise. We can already predict your reaction: a groan, an eye roll, an “are you out of your mind”? But just indulge us: with the right preparation, an appropriate activity, and an open mind, you might be surprised to discover how good elevated exercise can feel. Please, allow us to explain.

There’s a time and a place

Elevated exercise is all about tuning into your body, paying extra attention to every muscle, and enjoying something akin to moving meditation. That means a Wims workout is a good option when you’re exercising for pleasure—it brings an added layer of intention, mindfulness, and gratitude for a strong and healthy body.

Time your dose

One of the biggest keys to success when planning a workout with Wims is managing the timing of your dose. Ideally, the buzz will take effect when you’re about 10 minutes into your workout—give or take. If it hits too late, the problem is obvious: you’ll end up doing most of your workout without the elevated effect. If it hits before you start, there’s a much higher chance you’ll get distracted or decide that, actually, a lot of things sound more fun than a workout. Giving yourself a few minutes to get in the exercise groove, sans buzz, allows Wims to accentuate that rhythm. Because Wims’s liquid format allows it to activate fast, we find it’s best to pop a Wims just a couple minutes before your workout begins.

Which workouts work

Some forms of exercise are better suited to elevation than others. As we’ve discussed before, running with Wims can be absolutely wonderful—especially if you have access to forest trails or a nearby park, where you can wind your way through natural beauty. Yoga can feel deeply refreshing too, and can be practiced at a range of intensities to match what’s comfortable for your body. Strength-based workouts, like pilates and light weight training, can also be surprisingly satisfying with a little high. You might find yourself paying extra attention to what muscle groups you’re activating, and noticing micro movements that you normally miss. In general, it’s best to pick a workout that feels more like a pleasurable practice than a chore. It’s up to you to explore what that means for you.

Don’t skip the stretch

With your muscles warmed up, and your senses extra elevated, the stretch at the end of a Wims workout is like the cherry on top. Take a couple extra minutes to indulge in luxurious stretches, as tightness unravels and tension melts away. Trust us, it’s well worth it.

If you do try working out with Wims, we want to hear about it. Drop us a note at hello@wims.world and let us know what workout you tried, how you timed it, and how the experience felt.
